The CWI Phlebotomy and Specimen Processing program is your key to becoming a phlebotomist and specimen processor.  In this intensive 15 week class, you will learn the responsibilities and skills required to gain work as an entry level phlebotomist (someone trained to draw blood) and specimen processor in the lab.  These skills will then be utilized at a local clinical site for a 40 hour externship.  Students are expected to complete the clinical hours in consecutive shifts.

  • AHA Healthcare Provider CPR complete by clinicals
  • Vaccinations - TB screen, Hep B, and immunizations prior to clinicals
  • Pass drug test and background check prior to clinicals
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Basic math skills
  • Understanding of the English language (written and spoken)
  • Students will be drawing blood on each other routinely
