BY JEREMIAH NABARRETE-STUART CWI Student Nurses Association President (2015-16) Welcome to the 2015-2016 Student Nurses Association of College of Western Idaho (CWI)! This will hopefully be the first in a series of posts about our medical service learning trip and the college’s first ever international experience for CWI students. Our team of students consists of twelve students, one registered nurse, and two doctors, as we prepare to jet off to El Salvador in mid-May.

On December 1st, The Student Nurses Association (SNA) met at Idaho Pizza in Meridian to help support Idaho Food bank by donating canned goods, and to meet the people that that have been part of the SNA mentorship program. The SNA mentorship program is where graduating nursing students volunteer to mentor new nursing students. This allows participants a place to turn for support, guidance, encouragement, and friendship as they transition into the RN role.

The CWI Student Nurses Association recently coordinated a project to collect donations for the Women’s and Children’s Alliance in Boise.

On Nov. 7, the CWI Student Nurses Association participated in the “Walk a mile in my shoes” event hosted by the Boise/Ada County Homeless Coalition.
