Karen received a bachelor’s degree in Art History and Biology at Kalamazoo College and a master’s and doctorate in Art History and African Studies at Indiana University.  She spent five years in South Africa as a Fulbright-Hayes fellow and instructor at Soweto’s Funda Center.  She teaches art history and humanities at CWI where she is interested in providing students with a strong foundation for further learning and a life-long interest in the arts and humanities.
