In May, eight students from the College of Western Idaho (CWI) Anthropology Club took part in a four day Anthropology Treasures of Bend exploration trip to Bend, Ore. The students enjoyed a number of educational experiences, including:
- An extensive day-long tour of the High Desert Museum
- Tour of the Newberry National Volcanic Monument
- Various hikes including: crater lake, waterfalls, and the largest cave in Oregon
“We tackled as many sites as we could fit into our four-day trip and learned to work together as a group, as a team, to make the most out of each destination,” says club member, Sue Roberts. “It was wonderful to utilize the knowledge I have learned in the classroom, apply it to my environment, and to add it to my learning experience.”
Anthropology Club Advisor, Nikki Gorrell, attended the trip and shares, “this trip exceeded my expectations. The students were enthusiastic, engaged, willing to help contribute in any way and were very collaborative with one another.”
A portion of the funding for the trip came from a CWI Foundation mini-grant, which is supported by Employee Giving.
