College of Western Idaho Business Professional Students Earn Top Medals at National Conference

MEDIA ADVISORY – Nine College of Western Idaho (CWI) students traveled to Chicago, Ill. April 25-29 to take part in the 2012 Business Professionals of America (BPA) National Leadership Conference. CWI saw several students excel in their respective individual competitions; taking home three first-place wins and 10 awards overall.

CWI captured three first-place trophies overall, as Tracy English, Diane Mills, and Timothy Walls took home top honors in their respective events. English won the Integrated Office Applications competition, while Mills placed first in Advanced Word Processing Skills and Walls topped the Banking & Finance field.

Mills captured CWI’s lone second-place trophy with a runner-up finish in Legal Office Procedures. English, meanwhile, secured the final trophy for CWI with a third-place finish in Advanced Word Processing Skills.

In addition to the top-three awards, CWI students managed to earn hardware for their individual success, as five students received medals for top-10 finishes in three different competitions. Mills, who medaled in Database Applications, was joined by Melissa Bennett (Keyboarding Production), Ryan Christensen, Sean Christopherson, and John Helton (Network Administration using Microsoft) all with top-10 finishes, respectively.
