President's Message

Expanding on a Strong Foundation

Thank you for your interest in College of Western Idaho (CWI).

CWI is breaking down the barriers to higher education. At CWI, individuals, regardless of where they are at in life, find an open door to a plethora of education and training programs that directly align with business and industry. We believe in working alongside our students and our partners in the community; and embracing the ever-evolving dynamics of the global marketplace. Following a trend of consistent growth, enrollment has increased in each semester since CWI's first offering of credit courses in January 2009. Today, the College has grown to support more than 20,000 degree and short-term training students each year. The rapidly expanding student population is served by over 900 faculty and support staff. Despite the unprecedented growth we have not lost sight of CWI's primary goal: to provide the local community with comprehensive, open-access to affordable, quality teaching and learning opportunities.

In order to best serve our students and the community, we have worked diligently to develop new facilities and technology that can provide our students with the best possible academic opportunities. Our campaign for expansion includes providing an increase in space for educating, while also strategically aligning ourselves to reach all areas of our community. The addition of a 176,000 square-foot Career and Technical Education (formerly Professional Technical Education) Program Center at Nampa Campus that opened in 2012 is an excellent example of how CWI and the community worked together to bring a regionally recognized training facility to Nampa. The Center provides exceptional hands-on learning opportunities for students and our evolving industries.
