Stephen Crumrine is the Director of Dual Credit at the College of Western Idaho. He is passionate about education and the roll education plays in the pursuit of living creatively. Stephen earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Linfield College and a Master’s of Fine Arts degree in poetry from the University of Montana. He lives with his wife and their two boys, under a Linden tree.
Since joining Dual Credit, Shannon has helped facilitate a fast-expanding dual credit program, bringing college opportunities to an increasing number of high school students across the state. As CWI’s Senior Dual Credit Coordinator, Shannon strives to facilitate a seamless transition for high school teachers who desire to join CWI’s team and align their curriculum for dual credit. This includes working with CWI’s faculty liaisons, as well as making sure the curriculum review process meets the national dual credit accreditation guidelines.
In her spare time, Shannon loves spending time with her husband of 20 years, as well as her children (daughter Morgan, 15 and son Kaden, 13). Shannon also loves cooking, sewing, and participating in a wide array of outdoor activities in Idaho!
Emily Shamim is a Coordinator for Dual Credit. She provides registration and degree planning assistance to high school students and their parents. She also works with high school counselors to facility Dual Credit opportunities for students. She attended Boise State University where she obtained her Bachelor’s and Masters of Social Work. After college Emily worked for several non-profits in the Treasure Valley, but always found herself drawn back to education. She has worked at CWI in a variety of roles for the last 5 years. Outside of work Emily enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter.
Steve Jenkins serves as a College Readiness and Dual Credit Coordinator at CWI. In this role, he works to expand academic college credit options to high school students. Jenkins spends his free time coaching and training basketball competitors and mentoring youth within the Treasure Valley.
He competed athletically with the Oral Roberts University men’s basketball team in Tulsa, Okla. He finished his basketball career at Reinhardt University in Waleska, GA. Jenkins earned a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Reinhardt University in 2011 and a Master's degree in Communication from Missouri State University in 2013.
He is passionate about building stronger communities through the role of post-secondary education, while eliminating inequity within education, and doing what he can to empower individuals reach their life aspirations. Overall, his greatest accomplishment is simply living and working toward writing his life’s legacy. He lives with his wife, two boys and mini Aussie.
Desiree recently completed a year of service as an AmeriCorps VISTA at Junior Achievement of Idaho. She received a B.S. Degree in Organizational Sciences - emphasis in Non-Profit Organizations and a Minor in Communications from the University of Idaho. She is passionate about making a difference in the community, especially
through working with youth, education and providing access to resources. She loves to learn, play and explore. In her free time you can find her hanging out with friends and family, traveling or practicing yoga.
At CWI she happily serves as a Transition Coordinator! As a Transition Coordinator she works to improve the career and college transition for CTE students, as well as provide information to students, parents, teachers, and counselors on CTE programs. You can find Desiree smiling in the land of Dual Credit with all of her awesome colleagues!
Kathy Culbertson serves as the Administrative Assistant to the Dual Credit Department. Kathy is responsible for helping students and parents navigate many aspects of Dual Credit and has played an integral part in developing registration and new hire processes. She has worked at the College of Western Idaho since 2011. Previously she worked for the Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls, OR in the Admission Department.
Outside of work she enjoys being outdoors walking, hiking or riding bikes. She keeps busy with her family and her grandchildren’s activities. She says there is no place like Idaho and is so grateful to call it home.
