Those in the Masonry industry construct the backbone of much of today's modern infrastructure and are responsible for many of the historical structures that still exist today. A profession in the Masonry industry will leave a legacy of the effort, skill, and determination it takes to be a mason.
As a mason you will work with your hands in various environments from inside to outside, underground and underwater. In this trade you will build structural components and facades including walls, fireplaces, chimneys, industrial furnaces, kilns and other structures using brick, cement, cinder blocks, stone, and marble. As a mason, there are several areas of focus such as bricklayers, marble setters, terrazzo workers, tile setters, and finishers. The College of Western Idaho (CWI) Masonry apprenticeship program will prepare you for the brick, stone, and block setting portion of the masonry field.
