About:
Aurelia started out at the Canyon County One Stop as a processing Work Study in the 2017 Spring Semester. She is a transplant form California; the heart and soul of agriculture. Her grandparents were born and raised in the Central Valley, her grandfather worked in agricultural for Western Farm Services. Her grandmother raised 6 children, then later became a Migrant Education teacher in Livingston, California. She understands the importance of experience, as well as the value of education. These two elements need to coexist for success in life as well as for personal growth.
Aurelia advocates to all who will listen to take the next step and pursuing a college education. Her father a migrant farm worker from Mexico is a strong believer in higher education. He feels that anyone who is lucky enough to be born here in the USA and speaks English should have no excuse to excel in life to achieve a degree.
Being here at CWI has opened various doors with a vast range of possibilities. She is thankful for the hard times in her life as well as the blessings. Everything has given her a higher sense of self-worth, self-value, and a louder voice. She will pass these traits of strength down to her only child, who is her world- her “mini me.” A beautiful, talented, strong-minded teenage daughter who will have no excuses to pursue her dreams. There is no reason to fail or let time slip away. Personal enjoyments in life are listening to Oldie but Goodies, bonfires under the stars, dancing and having meaningful conversations with people from all walks of life. Life is too short to be quite, be bold when called upon in life!
