Valeri received a bachelor’s in American History from Boise State University, a master’s from Columbia University, and a master’s in Fiction Writing from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. In addition to her teaching at CWI, she teaches creative writing to K-12 students through the Log Cabin Literary Center. She’s also writing a novel about teenagers. All writers must read, so her CWI classes often center on critical discussions of essays, stories, and poems. This, she believes, is the key to learning to formulate ideas and express them in one’s own compelling words.
