Teacher, Fire Service Technology

Keith became interested in becoming a firefighter when he was 5 years old and never lost sight of that interest. He began his education in the fire service in 1988 at Chabot College in Hayward, California where he began his EMT class along with the Firefighter 1 and Firefighter 2 program. Keith moved to Idaho in 1993 and became a volunteer firefighter with North Ada County Fire and Rescue. He was hired by the Nampa Fire Department in 1996. Throughout his career with Nampa, he served in many roles: firefighter, driver/operator, captain, training officer and battalion chief.

Keith is currently a captain in the department with 25 years of service. He completed his education while working full time in the fire department. Keith finished his associates degree through Portland Community College in Fire Service Technology in 2009 and went on to complete a bachelor's degree in Fire Service Administration in 2013 from Eastern Oregon University. Keith is a recent graduate of the National Fire Academy's Executive Fire Officer Program and was the 25th in the state of Idaho to do so.

Keith is passionate about giving back to the fire service through training and educating tomorrow's fire service members and leaders. He loves working with CWI students as they progress through the program. Keith  remembers the struggle of juggling life, school, family and work, it's not easy but it is well worth the effort. CWI's Fire Service Program is perfect for developing the base education and training that is ideal for fire service career seekers.
