Dave Ficks is a native of Boise and an alumni of Boise State University (B.A., Psychology) and University of Idaho (M.Ed., Ph.D, Adult Education). He currently teaches CISA 101 (Computer Literacy Skills Development) in the Computer Information and Applications Systems program at CWI and also teaches General Education courses at Stevens Henager College. Dave's educational focus is on helping adult learners with transition into higher education and / or new careers. To that end, he has taught computer applications, job readiness, academic success courses and other courses for over 15 years.
Dave enjoys all types of cooking and outdoor projects, especially gardening. He is currently working on a project to create a U-Pick Community Garden on a family property in Northwest Boise. His philosophy is "Why work out when you can be out working?"
Because he believes in the importance of local and independently owned businesses as a crucial component of a sustainable economy, Dave also volunteers for META (Micro Enterprise Training and Assistance Program) a non-profit organization that helps people plan, start and fund very small business enterprises.
Dave knows that the best things that ever happened to him are his wife, Shelli, and his two daughters, Kennedy and Bailey.
