CWI Students Provide $16,000 in Tax Assistance

Published: May 14, 2013

The College of Western Idaho (CWI) Nampa Campus Academic Building served as a host site for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) once again this spring, which provided CWI students an opportunity to gain valuable real-world experience while giving back to the community. Seven CWI students participated in the initiative, which provided more than 60 students and community members assistance with their individual income taxes. The service provided a savings of more than $16,000, based on average return rate calculated by the Internal Revenue Service.

Led by Business, Education & Wellness Program Chair, Joe Welker, the student volunteers included: Kendra Harada, Neil Doyle, Karen Owens, Joan Johnson, Stephanie Howard, Kaylynn Butler, and Igor Ivko.
