CWI Says Money Will Help it Meet Growth Needs

Published: January 11, 2012

An additional $1 million in state support to the College of Western Idaho will help the Nampa-based community college meet the needs of its “exponential” growth in enrollment, according to President Bert Glandon.

Responding to Gov. Butch Otter’s announcement during Monday’s State of the State address that he will recommend an additional $1 million for the fiscal year 2013 budget, College of Western Idaho President Bert Glandon said that his school’s growth has led to an inequity in funding among the state’s community colleges.

“CWI appreciates the budget recommendations of Gov. Otter and his continued support of higher education in Idaho. As he noted in his speech, all three community colleges have been collaborating closely to provide high quality educational access to Idaho’s communities knowing that this will directly support our economic development,” Glandon said in a prepared statement.
