College of Western Idaho Speech and Debate Takes First in Competition Sweepstakes

College of Western Idaho (CWI) Speech and Debate garners top bragging rights with a notable win at the 2012 College of Idaho Coyote Classic, Oct. 19-20, as CWI finishing first in the sweepstakes above five seasoned competitors including long-running champion Boise State University. CWI’s participants secured 56 individual awards which ultimately led to the first place finish for the College.  CWI's Speech and Debate team is composed of 75% novice competitors meaning that for many, the Coyote Classic was only their first or second tournament. It's the hard work and dedication of these individuals that allowed the team to be so successful at this tournament.

The two-day tournament featured novice and open International Public Debate Association (IPDA) and National Public Debate Association (NPDA) debate competition and novice and open National Individual Events Tournament (NIET) events.
