MEDIA ADVISORY – College of Western Idaho will be hosting multiple observance activities in honor of Veterans Day,
November 11. The special ceremonies will honor student and employee veterans of CWI and pay special tribute to all who serve in the United States Armed Forces.
The Honor Guard and guest speaker Jeff Bacon, Executive Director of the Wyakin Warrior Foundation and retired United States Naval Captain, will lead each ceremony with symbolic rising of flags and singing of the national anthem.
The activities will commence at the following CWI campus locations:
9:00 a.m. – Ada County Campus, 1360 South Eagle Flight Way, Boise, Idaho
11:--‐00 a.m. – Nampa Campus, 5500 East Opportunity Drive, Nampa, Idaho
1:00 p.m. – Canyon County Center, 2407 Caldwell Blvd., Nampa, Idaho
Guest speaker Bacon served for over 26 years in the Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer and Oceanographer. He is currently the Executive Director of the Wyakin Warrior Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides education, mentoring, training, networking, and job placement to severely wounded and injured veterans. The Wyakin Warrior Foundation has partnered with CWI to provide educational opportunities for its members.
In addition to the ceremonial activities at CWI’s Nampa Campus, the Horticulture Department will plant a tree on the East side of Nampa Campus to be dedicated in honor of all CWI Veterans. The tree, donated by Clayton Farms, will be accompanied by an engraved rock marker.
The activities are open to the public and refreshments will be served following each ceremony.
