Antivirus Software
College of Western Idaho has purchased and deployed ESET NOD32 Antivirus Business Edition on all CWI faculty, staff and lab computers. This software does real time scanning for worms, viruses and spyware on all opened files, emails and as you browse the internet. Detailed specifications of the software can be found at this link.
This software will be available in the future for use by any full time faculty/staff to install on their personal home computer. An activation code is required and will be distributed on a yearly basis to current employees of CWI.
Windows Updates (WSUS)
Windows updates are an important defense against virus and malicious computer attacks. It is strongly recommended that everyone keep their work and personal computers fully patched by using Microsoft’s website.
College of Western Idaho has deployed the Windows Update service that pushes out critical Microsoft patches on a daily basis. If the laptop or desktop is a member of the CWI domain, to which most PC’s owned by CWI are members, the updates are automatically pushed and the PC’s are rebooted.
