President's Message

Expanding on a Strong Foundation

College of Western Idaho is breaking down the barriers to higher education. At CWI, individuals, regardless of where they are at in life, find an open door to a plethora of education and training programs that directly align with business and industry. We believe in working alongside our students and our partners in the community; and embracing the ever-evolving dynamics of the global marketplace. Following a trend of consistent growth, enrollment has increased in each semester since CWI's first offering of credit courses in January 2009. Today, the College has grown to support nearly 20,000 degree and short-term training students each year. The rapidly expanding student population is served by over 800 faculty and support staff spread across the Treasure Valley in eight campus locations and more than a dozen community classrooms. Despite the unprecedented growth we have not lost sight of CWI's primary goal: to provide the local community with comprehensive, open-access to affordable, quality teaching and learning opportunities.

In order to best serve western Idaho, we have worked diligently to develop new facilities and technology that can provide our students with the best possible academic opportunities. Our campaign for expansion includes providing an increase in space for educating, while also strategically aligning ourselves to reach all areas of our community. One of the exciting new developments at CWI is the addition of a new 176,000 square-foot Professional Technical Education Program Center at Nampa Campus that opened this fall.

College of Western Idaho

College of Western Idaho delivers college credit instruction, certificates, and degrees through its memorandum of understanding with the College of Southern Idaho (CSI). Last year the College was granted Candidacy status with the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) and was able to move forward with the streamlining of processes onto CWI systems providing a more efficient enrollment process for students.

We take pride in preparing our students to be the best in their fields and playing a fundamental role in establishing economic stability in the Treasure Valley. CWI continues to partner with local business and industry to help ensure we are producing some of the most sought after students our community has to offer. Whether it is working to maintain the highest standards of quality in the current workforce, or developing highly qualified employees of the future, CWI is committed to being a catalyst for economic growth in the Treasure Valley.

I invite you to explore CWI's website to learn more about our quality learning opportunities and then visit a campus near you to experience the warm hospitality of our staff eager to help you Achieve More! This is an exciting time for CWI and our community, and we look forward to welcoming you on campus.
