Recover Access to Your Account

The Logon Help system allows students, faculty, and staff to perform tasks such as changing or resetting their password using a self-service web interface. This system is accessible from any device with an Internet connection, and will allow you to regain access to your account without submitting an online request for help or calling the Help Desk. To access the system, browse to: Logon Help

You are are strongly encouraged to sign up for the password reset service, which will allow you to take advantage of the full functionality of the Logon Help system.

Sign Up for Password Reset Service

Users are strongly encouraged to enroll in the password reset service in order to take full advantage of the self-service functionality made available by the Logon Help system.

To enroll in the service, follow these steps:

  1. Using an Internet browser, go to the Logon Help system at: Logon Help
  2. Click Sign up for the Password Reset service, and follow the steps to enroll in the system.

If you are unable to enroll in the password reset service by following these steps, please contact the Help Desk. Be prepared to provide a description of the steps you followed and any error messages returned to you. Contact the Help Desk

Reset Password

All users must set a custom password before accessing any CWI services, such as myCWI, student email, and Blackboard. If you have set a custom password but have forgotten it, and you have previously signed up for the password reset service, you can use the Logon Help system to reset your password to the default. If you have not enrolled in this service, you will need to contact the Help Desk

To reset your password using the password reset service, follow the steps below:

  1. Using an Internet browser, go to the Logon Help system at: Logon Help
  2. Click Reset, and then follow the prompts. If you receive a message saying “This user is not signed up for the password reset service”, contact the Help Desk.

If you are unable to reset your password by following these steps, please contact the Help Desk. Be prepared to provide a description of the steps you followed and any error messages returned to you. Contact the Help Desk

Unlock Account

In an effort to protect your information, your account will be disabled if the incorrect password is used five or more times. If you have previously enrolled in the password reset system, you can unlock your account by following these steps:

  1. Using an Internet browser, go to the Logon Help system at: Logon Help
  2. Click Unlock, and follow the prompts to unlock your account.

If you are still unable to access your domain account despite having followed these steps, please contact the Help Desk. Be prepared to provide a description of the steps you followed and any error messages returned to you. Contact the Help Desk

Change Password

All users must set a custom password before accessing any CWI services, such as myCWI, student email, and Blackboard. To set a custom password, follow these steps:

  1. Using an Internet browser, go to the Logon Help system at: Logon Help
  2. Click Change Password, and complete the form to change your password.
    1. Your username will usually follow the format of [preferred name][last name].
    2. Regular students' passwords follow the format of [first initial, capitalized][last initial, capitalized]logon[last four digits of Social Security Number].

      For example, a user with the name of John Smith and a Social Security Number of 123-45-6789 will have a username of johnsmith and a default password of JSlogon6789.
       
    3. If you are presented with the message "Invalid username or password", please confirm you are entering your username and password correctly.
    4. If you are presented with the message "The new password and the confirmation do not match", please confirm you are entering the same value in the New password and Confirm password fields.
    5. If you are presented with the message "The server is unwilling to process the request", please confirm your new password conforms to the complexity requirements listed above the form.
