How to view course descriptions and availability using the course catalog in Student Planning

To begin, access Student Planning located within

Log into Student planning using your regular username and password. Remember, your username is always lowercase.

Choose "Student Planning


Click on “Course Catalog”

Hover over student planning on the top ribbon and click on “Course Catalog”.

Subject Search

Scroll through the subjects offered OR use the search bar to find the desired subject.


Filters on the left can narrow your search.

Add Course to Timeline

Once a subject is selected course descriptions can be found under the course name along with how many credits are offered and any pre-requisites.

To add this course to your timeline and choose a section later click “Add Course to Plan”.

Add Course to Plan

In the pop up menu that appears, use the drop down menu to select the term you want the course added to. Click “Add Course to Plan”. A pop up menu will appear showing course description, credits, locations, and requisites.

View Available Sections

Add a specific section for the current semester by choosing the “View Available Sections” drop down. When your desired course is found click “Add Section to Schedule”.

A pop up menu will appear showing course information. Click on “Add Section”.

Back to Plan and Register

To continue using the catalog and find a different course topic click the browser back arrow. Continue adding courses in this manner.

Once you have planned all of your courses click “Back to Plan and Register”.


You are now ready to start registering for courses.
