Department News

On April 21, 2012, College of Western Idaho students, Michael Eastman and Marcy Rosamonda, presented the results of their year-long research projects at the College of Idaho’s Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium in Caldwell.

Welcome to the Department of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math at College of Western Idaho! Thanks for taking the time to check us out. Our department has a single, simple goal; to provide our ten-county service area with excellent science instruction. We do this through the use of innovative curriculum and a continuous improvement model; we know there is always room for improvement and we’re constantly working to get better. Our faculty and staff are entirely devoted to your education and are teachers foremost but bring a diversity of experiences to the classroom to share with our students. And our science labs are among the newest and best in southwestern Idaho.

We have just five programs in NPS that result in Associate of Science degrees – Agriculture, three in Biology, and Geology – but we support students in other academic areas including Allied Health, Chemistry, Medical Administration, Nursing, Physics, Psychology, Surgical Technology and many others with our Core Science curriculum. In fact, we touch the lives of greater than 5000 students each term in our classrooms and laboratories!

Our degree programs, and non-degree coursework, will challenge you to understand concepts, analyze data, communicate effectively, think critically, solve problems, and manage your time. Success for us is when our students leave CWI with a degree, or with transfer credits, and excel in the workplace or in their next program of study. We are committed to teaching, to life-long learning, and to science education; we’re committed to your success!

Thanks again for visiting our site. Please take a look at our programs, degrees, and 2+2 Agreements with partnering universities and then contact us if you have questions; our e-mail and phone number are below. The links on the left will direct you to specific disciplines. We look forward to seeing you in class!
