Program Overview
College of Western Idaho’s (CWI) Internetworking and Communication Technologies program can introduce you to a fulfilling new career opportunity by providing you with the knowledge and skills to install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches, and related network equipment in a LAN or WAN environment. The program also focuses on advanced network routing and switching as well as the fundamentals of wireless networks and VoIP in a converged network. Upon completion, you will be ready to earn Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certifications, as we are recognized by Cisco Systems as a Regional Training Academy for Idaho.
What will you learn to do?
- Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches and related network equipment in a LAN or WAN environment
- Advanced network routing and switching
- Fundamentals of wireless networks
- VOIP in a converged network
What kind of degree(s) can you earn?
- Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) – approximately two years
- Advanced Technical Certificate (ATC) – approximately 16 months
- Postsecondary Technical Certificate (PTC) – usually less than one year
What else should I know?
Program orientation will be held on or before the first day of class.
