Degrees and Certificates We Offer

Associate of Arts (AA) Degree

The Associate of Arts Degree requires the successful completion of a minimum of 64 credit hours and is designed to transfer to a four-year institution. You must complete the required General Education coursework. A full-time student who enrolls in an average of 16 credit hours each semester can typically complete this degree in two years.

Associate of Science (AS) Degree

The Associate of Science Degree requires the successful completion of a minimum of 64 credit hours in a course of study with additional emphasis on science. The degree is designed to transfer to a four-year institution. You must complete the required General Education coursework. A full-time student who enrolls in an average of 16 credit hours each semester can typically complete this degree in two years.

Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree

The Associate of Applied Science Degree requires the successful completion of Professional Technical Education and General Education coursework. The AAS degree requires students to complete 16 hours of General Education coursework and 48 credit hours in their Professional Technical Education major area. This degree is designed primarily for students who plan to enter the workforce after graduation. You can earn the degree in two years if you complete the required coursework each semester for the AAS degree of your choice.

Advanced Technical Certificate (ATC)

The Advanced Technical Certificate requires the successful completion of both General Education coursework and Professional Technical Education coursework. The ATC places a heavy emphasis on Professional Technical Education coursework; with 52-66 credit hours needed in your major area. You are also required to complete 9 credit hours in General Education. This certificate is designed primarily for students who plan to enter the workforce after graduation. The ATC can be finished in approximately 16 months if you complete the required coursework each semester for the ATC of your choice.

Technical Certificate (TC)

The Technical Certificate requires the successful completion of both General Education coursework and Professional Technical Education coursework. The TC emphasis is primarily on Professional Technical Education coursework; with 29-42 credit hours needed in your major area. You are also required to complete 9 credit hours in General Education. This certificate is designed primarily for students who plan to enter the workforce after graduation. The TC can be finished in approximately one year if you complete the required coursework each semester for the TC of your choice.

Postsecondary Technical Certificate (PTC)

The Postsecondary Technical Certificate requires the successful completion 12-27 credit hours of Professional Technical Education coursework. This certificate is designed primarily for students who plan to enter the workforce after graduation. The PTC can be finished in approximately one year if you complete the required coursework each semester for the PTC of your choice.

Certificate (non-credit)

All of the Certificate (non-credit) courses are offered through Business Partnerships/Workforce Development, which offers a wide selection of short-term certificate classes and fast track career training programs. Courses are available to anyone 16 and older, and out of high school – regardless of previous educational experience.

Online

There are several Business Partnerships/Workforce Development courses offered entirely online that allow you to complete certificate training at your own convenience. CWI also currently offers a number of General Education programs that can be completed at least 50 percent online. Please consult the current course schedule for online offerings in any semester.
